A room for two awaits.
Inside the sapling, you all enter the wedding venue. Double doors swing open to a rugged carpet between burnt pews. It ends at the foot of two steps leading to a slightly higher platform, furnishing an ember-covered altar upon which lies Persephone. The gaping hole in her chest still releasing the fog. Her backdrop is an open wall and bannister overlooking the distant lands, forest-like grass and hill-like rocks.
The sight distracts you from the now for a brief moment.
Ace's shrieks pull your senses back to reality as the most powerful adventurers amongst you are locked in battle. They stand sturdy, yet damaged, defending Terry the Rat King from Ace. A dispel magic ritual circle fades away at his feet before he falls to the floor exhausted. Another bigger and half-broken ritual circle appears. This time vertically and around Ace as she levitates behind the altar, and her eyes roll back. Her hair sprawled out in long waves, the soul bottles open. And the spirits rim the spell circle. Ace's notebook filled with Persephone's love notes, arcane pictures, and dried flowers opens in Ace's arms.
All the parts are brought together. The Mind, the Body, and the Soul are finally one. Persephone glows, and the venue briefly fills with a blinding light. . Everyone listens to their faint breathing as Ace and Persephone talk:
Ace caresses her lover’s face: “I’m sorry.” Persephone’s eyes open: “Me too.”
Ace sighs and chuckles: “In what world do you have to be sorry for anything?”
Persephone: “In the world where we’re free. Free from me. Thank you, my love, but it’s time to let me go, let them go.” Her voice is getting softer as blood starts to drip out from her open chest wound and contrasts while it pours down the burnt black altar.
Ace panics: “No! We have spells to heal you now!”
As she readies a Cure Wounds, Persephone grabs Ace's wrist, stopping the spell. Ace, stunned, accepts Persephone's gentle palm on her cheek.
In a weak whisper, Persephone: “Thank you for loving me.” Ace: “Now and forever…”
Persephone’s eyes close, and the blood stops falling to the floor. Her arms drop limp, and what blood remains inside pools down, her face becomes a pale white. Ace holds Persphone up close to her body, and she screams out her name.
As she does, the remaining Persephone spirits which never got captured float quietly into the room. She lowers the body back onto the altar, closing her eyes, and placing Pershophone's hands on the chest cavity.
She yells, “As you wish my sweet love!”
Ace grabs Persephone’s face and a blazing flame emerges from her palm. Her hair flares up again as yet another ritual circle appears from her free hand, a dispel magic, and a strong-looking one. The air begins to rush in from all directions towards Persephone’s open wound. The flowing oxygen fuels the simmering embers, combusting the charcoal Sapling. The Wessons are the first amongst the group to turn and leave, causing the people to follow suit in a mass hysteria. . Outside, the gathering looks back at the sapling in fear as this small bush creates a huge plume of smoke. The air continues to rush down into the blaze, pulling your attention to the fog which is repelled by the Anti-Mist Mage barrier. Ellie commands all mages to join her in lowering it once and for all. As the collaborating staffs are pointed outwards, the fog breaks through.
In quick succession: The whole fog is captured within the sapling. Air stands still. The dispel magic spell is complete and the sapling rapidly expands to its proper size relative to you. The inertia of its expansion causes its brittle form to shatter and embers are thrown across nearby plains.
The sun is gorgeous, its longing warmth like a kiss on your skin.
The silence is broken by a distant explosion as across the plains in all directions are soldiers, mages, and all types of creatures fighting in well-decorated groups. Unfrozen from the fog, a waiting war has awoken once more.
Amidst the smoke and embers, inside this new chaos, you see Ace. Floating alone, she speaks through her tears: “May a long-forgotten war come to fruition. Which side are you on?”
